INSTRUCTIONS:
The finished size of this card is 6” x
6”
Using the readymade Interlocking card as
the card base, take the circle die from the Rounded Sunlight Window die set and
the green colored paper for the background from the Window Scenes paper
collection. Die cut the circle x 4. Cut these circles in ½ and adhere to the
card ½ rounds, both sides. Find the striped paper from the Wild Wilderness
paper collection and cut a 5 ½” x 5 ½” square from this paper. Ink the edges of
this paper with the Frozen Lake ink. Ink the edges of the inside square with
the Chinese Red ink. Now adhere the paper to the inside square as a base.
Taking the white card stock and both the
Rounded Lattice ½ dies, using the scalloped outer edge for both dies, die cut x
4 of each die sort. Bring color to the ½ circles using the Chinese Red and the
Frozen Lake inks. As seen in the card photo, adhere to all the ½ rounds of the
card. Making sure the card folds are free to fold.
Make the hinges by using the gold card
stock and the latches die set. Make enough for each ½ circle edge plus a set
for the ribbon slides at both sides of the card. When adhering in place, use
the double sided tape and clear drying glue. Adhere the set of gold latches to
the card front flaps to the edge for the ribbon slides. Cut enough ribbon to
tie around the card and make a bow. This will be about 3-4 times the width of
the card front. Thread the ends of all three ribbons through the latches ready
to tie the bow. Adhere the ribbons
to the back of the card with a strip of double sided tape.
To make the rest of the embellishments used
in this card stamp and die cut the following:
x 4 medium sized flowers, x 4 smaller sized
flowers, x 12 sets of leaves, x 1 of each of the squirrels plus 3 extra cuts
for each as extra layers to make them into chipboards, x3 extra cuts for the
squirrel and window frame to make them also into chipboards, x 2 of the nut
house, x 2 each of the small circle and circle with the scalloped outer edge
found in the Oakberry Lane set. (these will be used for the sentiments) Once
the embellishments are stamped and die cut, bring color to them by using the
Zigg coloring markers.
The colors used are: Caterpillar: 070
Orange, Butterfly:036 Light Blue, 050 Yellow, 090 Grey, Squirrel: 064 Oatmeal,
060 Brown, Nuts and Nut House: 062 Dark Brown, 065 Mid Brown, Grass: 043 Olive
Green, Flowers: 047 May green, 050 Yellow, 070 Orange
Window glass: 031 Cobalt Blue, Latches:052
Bright Yellow, Window frames: 068 Deep Brown, Apron: 053 Yellow green, 050
Yellow, Pie:064 Oatmeal, 260 Deep Red.
To make the flowers used for this card: Using the stamp and die sets for the Oak Berry
Blossoms flowers and the matching blossom shaping mold. Stamp and die cut
enough to use for the card. Color
the elements using the Frozen Lake ink for the flowers and a Zigg maker 046 Mid
Green for the leaves. When colored, run the flower petals and leaves through
the die cutting machine with the mold. For each flower prick a hole in the centre with a
pricking tool and thread the stamens through the hole. Secure the stamens using
the hot glue gun. Trimming the stamen threads away and now they are ready to
use. Now you can adhere them in place to the card flaps
as seen in the card photos.
Ink the sentiment circles with the Chinese
Red and the Frozen Lake inks. Stamp the sentiment to the small circle. Adhere
both layers together with double sided tape or clear drying glue. Taking the
Crystal Lacquer, apply this to the outer edge of the scalloped circle, to all
the squirrels and the glass in the windows. Put the embellishments aside to dry
(preferably over night). When they are dry and set, adhere in place all the
elements used in the inner card square and to the ½ circles flaps as seen in
the card photo. For the front right flap, when adhering the squirrel on the
rubber wheel tire swing, make sure the ribbon falls under the embellishment and
leaves so the ribbon stays in place ready to be tied into a bow later.
To finish the card, apply the diamond
stickles to the flower petal edges. When the stickles are dry, close the card
and tie the bow.
