Mixed Media - Grunge Houses

Every one loves mixed media......
......in some way or another........my first attempt (a wee while ago) has taken the form of houses in the style of a mini book.
Enjoy the journey.

Can't do anything without adding flowers! The Dusty Attic Fern laser cut added the NZ well known emblem of the Fern.

A good reason for houses and Grandfather Clark....he was later an architect. At the time, he was a Land surveyor.

Grandfather Clark was a bit of an artist. This sketch he drew and sent in a letter to Grandmother Clark while courting her. We still have this treasured letter.
Top right sketch- of himself, hard at work in the South Island, New Zealand

Love the....when pigs fly.... The paper cut of the pig is suspended with wire.
I fell in love with this at first sight!

A try and play with pan pastels...this is really a beginners look! We all have to start sometime.
haha

The photo you see above is what I have of my grandparents wedding day. Grandfather Bob and Grandmother Cottle on my mothers side. Yes those old family names......

The brides maids.....not much cash around at that time....hence the very simple attire. This would be around the time of the depression or there after. Don't you just love those hats! And that neck tie!

Well I hope you enjoyed viewing my first attempt with mixed media and sharing in a bit of my history.
More mixed media to come later.... I have grown since this was created - life does not stand still.....so catch the moment......and enjoy it

....till next time.

have a scrappy one.....

PS We all know I have not been posting for a while, so I am catching up on older work that has been put aside while life carried on. Slowly but surly I shall catch up....

GIRLZ DAY

Another LO of the Scrap-delight design team...thus named "DT Girlz Day"

Sorry, Iam doing this on the i- pad again. Can't get to work it like the laptop. Same excuse of not having my product list with me....can not think of every thing when I get to go to the other side of the world to see my sisters! Sorry.

The background was made with the large...giant weapan of a punch from We R Memory Keepers "Lucky 8 Punch: Classic Wreath".

Circle, from the Dusty Attic large clock, stsitched with gold thread.

Most of the punches used are from EK.

Gold pearl drops made with the Paper Pen from Viva.

Flowers - made from the Tatterd Flowers die from Tim Holtz. Sprayed, moulded with the fingers, gessoed then something new for me - the edges touched up with a pearl pen - pearly brown/pink color.
I used Dusty Attic blooms as well, sprayed and inked to get the color to match. Same with the leaves.

Twigs are made with the Memory Box dies.Very fine, just love this product!

The girl cameo is from Dusty Attic. Painted white the Crackle Paint Clear Candy from Ranger. Add a little vintage ink so the crackles will pop.

The paper ribbon across the page is cut then embossed with the folders from Tim Holtz.

The tittle is, as always, or a lot.....cut x 6 stacked, glued then glossy.....yes making my own chippies is working for me. Touched up with Glimmer Mist using the paint brush and gesso to give it the finsh I wanted.

I hope you have enjoyed this post.

I only appolagise for my not normal posting. You will have to wait to see photo's of my stay here untill I can upload them.

scrappy hugs,
Susan xoxo

This Woman

Hi there every one. This is being posted while I am killing time at Hong Kong airport... 12 hours can sure be a long time!

So you will have to bear with me as I do not have my note book with all the toys I used to create this.....just using the grey matter... here it goes...

The paper used here, is  from an old Basic Grey paper line...Scarlets letters,.....and yes it is an older line, but still a fav from most scrappers.

The lettering is made from Quickutz dies. Yes I layerd them.....6 times... yes it is a pain to layer them, but as you can see it is well worth doing. Finish it with glossy from Ranger.

Flowers, I , of course made my self from tissue paper, useing the tatterd flower die from Tim Holtz.

The black twig with leaves and grapes, is brought out through Prima Marketing. If you look close enough you will see I have added a few leaf chips from Dusty Attic.....sorry I haven't got the # and name with me. Of course finished with gesso then painted with glimmer mist.

The wings are from one of Tim Holtz embossing folders.

The edges are punched with the help of Martha Stewarts toys....a true classic and a worth while investment......but what isn't......

Sorry got to keep it short, running out of battery. I was clever enough to pack the reserve and the addapter.....but it's in the suit case that was booked strait through......which all well and good is now in Carins with all my other goodies I could not do without!

So as they say catch you later, and as I say have a scrappy one.
Susan. Oxoxo.

PN. This is done on the iPad....so please make allowances for me.

She Dreams

A Lay Out for the Scrap-Delight Sunday sketch challenge.

This photo was taken at the last design team meeting a few months ago.
I am so in love with this photo! I am not photogenic, so hate having to pose for photo's....Thank you Janine for taking such great photo's and not to forget, a thank you, to Christine for rubbing all those unwanted lines and extra coloring we were not born with away for me. xoxoxo

The title "SHE dreams" was made with the "Word play" from Tim Holtz. Cut x 2 from packing boxes and x 1 from Glitz Design paper. Do you see the wonderful Dylusions stamped leaves? Stamp them on the back side of card stock, then cut them out. Ball them up with the balling tool and attach with foam tape.
All products are listed below.

Close up of these wonderful dreamy flowers. Finished with a new product at scrapdelight. When I was there last time...as I was racing out the door...I asked what is this? The answer was don't know, take it and try it.....so I have , and I have even suprised my self. It was a jar of medium with a sparkle in it. You can also see it in the dolie masking. I used the dolie to spray glimmer mist. When dry I used the medium...very happy with the bling bling effect! I used what was left over to finish the edges of the flowers.....we all know that I DO NOT throw any thing away...another day when I was kind to the earth. This product is not on the site yet...as I have it here. It is from Viva and is a gel medium. It will be coming very soon. I shall be using it alot in my future work for sure!

Memory box is a must have to die for product! Here you can see how fine the fence is. So fine that the glossy ran off. Dang! Better luck next time. But it looks great if it is not a close up. I put the glossy on the gate as well. The tag was cut with the Tim Holtz tag die.

Yes you saw right. The dreams was an after thought. The LO was done, but I felt it was missing something....yes it was...DUSTY ATTIC.....came to the rescue! "dreams" was finished with gesso then dabbed in a puddle of glimmer mist...you know the ones I make on plastic. Add a few leaves cut from the brown flip side of the Glitz paper and I was done.

Don't we just love "Glitz" Design Paper.

Products I used on this layout:
Glitz Design "Pretty in Pink" paper
Tim Holtz Alterations(sizzix)
Memory Box Dies- rounded fence 98287 / cherry blossom 98316 / wrought iron gate & fence 98225 & 98164

"FOOT NOTE"
My next post.....hopefully I shall be posting great news....for me any way......
Sorry you will all have to wait until it is definite.....aren't I mean.....no sneak peaks......but it begins with AU....AUS....AUST....R.....A.....I......L.....A..........yes...... iTS'S................
AUSTRALIA! HERE I COME!
I have not booked yet...waiting to get a connecting flight that works for me......and my scrap habits!
It takes alot of work getting all those stop overs working so you get to see everyone and every thing important.
What's the best news is.....my DH said he can miss me for two whole months.
PARTY PARTY PARTY!
The down side is..this is a spirit of the moment gift so the budget is low....that is a real serious down side! But hey! I have family that love me dearly.
Cherre is taking the poor me in....on one condition...and this is not negotiable!
I give her personal flower making lessons and that I go with her to the retreat in Cairns on the 22-24th Sept.2012
You can imagine how hard it was to let this all sink in and to give a well thought out answer, you know the ones that can effect the rest of your life.....
You shall just have to wait until my next post to find out what the out come of this Delmer will be!
have a scrappy one.....oxoxoxo

My DTG for APRIL is coming to a end. One really positive thing about it is....I have really pulled finger out and done a lot of posting this month.....sorry I can not do this every month, my DH will not be very happy with the scrapping world, and I also have a lot going on in my life other than my post. Funny that?
Hopefully I can get some ATC's I am working on up stairs in my LAB. Just got to get some DA and flowers on to them....So far I am excited about them.
Scrappy hugs and have a good one   .....   Love Susan
