LIFE TIME

Hi,

To make up to all those with a lot of faithfulness that have been waiting for something interesting to be posted by sussipoppins....which, I might add, have been waiting a fair long time...but we won't go down that street today. We take the right turn instead, down the Tutorial Lane....

............."THE HOW TO TUTORIAL LANE"........

Today, I have decided to add a how to to the post. Detailed instructions, instead of a brief what I did.
The supply list and Instructions, you will find at the end of the post.

Don't forget to have fun and get those hands and fingers grubby.....Any questions etc. Just leave a comment and I shall get back to you as soon as possible.

We all know how much I love to make my own flowers, but clustering, is always a win, win in a L.O.

The butterflies are finished with a iridescent medium.

More clustering and pearl pen dots.

Close up of the swirl roses.
The stickles are added when they are glued down and dried.
Reason being....so they can't move and you can what ever them with out the risk of dropping them. It's like having an extra pair of hands.

The title is from a Prima Marketing packaging. "Waste not want not"

Love those metal clips. Some times it is just what a LO needs.

Getting a close look at the masking and boarder die cuts.

See how the rhinestones lengthen the trail of the flower arrangement.
The pearl pen dots extend the line and bring it all together.

Hope you enjoyed the photo show, now for the supplies and instructions.
Have fun.

(I used cardboard box) -Crop-a-dile (for flowers or a prick tool, to make wholes for the stamens) -Balling tool and mat. (for the flowers)
-Tweezers -Card Stock. A contrast color.

INSTRUCTIONS:
#1
Using the swirly leaf mask, bring on the design with the iridescent medium. The placement of this mask is so the points of the leaves are at the edge of the page. Both on the right as the left. I masked two times to get this effect, Later, this will give the look of peeping out from under the clustering. When dry, bring the second layer of masking with the chicken wire mask and kris tall gel. Leave to dry. Distress the edges of the design paper with the distressing tool. Then attach to the card stock, which gives you a base for your LO.
#2
Cut a heart shape from the cardboard box  carton, or if you prefer chip board.. Seal the board with gesso, this will also give the board a white wash look. Stamp with the Donna Downey heart stamp, using the ranger silver and gold paint as ink. ( wash the stamp after using the paint before it dries. If you don't , it will not come off later. ( bad for any stamp) Ink around the edges with red ink or paint.
#3
Attach the heart when dry with double sided foam tape. Place a little to one side, so it is off center.
#4
Using the picture wheel die cut x1 of each, design paper and cardboard box or chip board. Glue the two together. Ink around the edges. Attach this to the center of the heart using double sided foam tape.
#5
Cut x2 from design paper, using the decorative boarders and heart die. Cut one in half. Place one of the halves on each side of the circle frame you have attached in step 4. Place the 2nd paper frame you have just cut, on top. Forming a layered effect. (See 4th photo from bottom.)
#6
Cut a photo to fit the circle of the die cut from step 4.
#7
Make the flowers and leaves using the tattered flowers and mover and shapers leaves dies. The larges flower is made using x3 both small and medium sized flower shape. The rose buds are made with the small size flower shape. x3 for each bud. Ball the flowers with the balling tool. The centers are filled with x2 flower stamens. Fold the stamen stems in half. poke through a whole made with the crop-a-dile, then glue to hold.
#8
Ink flowers and leaves then arrange and glue them all down. Add iridescent medium and stickler. This added after they are glued down, because then they won't move or get dropped and spoil all your hard work.
#9
Attach butterflies at the body, curling the wings up. To give that in flight look.
#10
Add bling swirls and bling leaves.
#11
Using the pearl pen, stip. here and there to form swirls and dots to add to the flow of the flower clusters. Also making a trail, see photo's.
#12
I used a sentiment from the packaging for the title. Placeing a bling in  the center of the flower.
#13
Because the title had the word time in it, I added a metal clock clip.

Remember, if you have any questions leave a message and I shall get back to you.

Have a fun scrappy day giving this LO a go,
Inky hugs,

SISTERS

Before I begin.....today I opened my Facebook and was shocked to read Robbin Williams ended his life. I, like many others, was a big fan of his talents.
He will be missed.
My heart goes out to his family and close friends. The private pain Robbin Williams must have had to bear.....the pain to be so great and heavy...it was easier to end it than to carry on......
This sort of loss, sorrow makes me really appreciate the feature hope my belief in the bible gives me.
The resurrection and the hope of a paradise earth.
Rev 21:3 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away"
This is a promise to us. Worth thinking about and holding on to....there is a lot happening in this world at the moment! Food for thought
______________

SISTERS

It has been a while since I have been at this little place in my world.
So much has been happening....I don't know where to begin.....so I won't bore you all... that is, all, that have not given up on me and thought I fell off this world ball called "earth" never to return!....hahaha....have not lost the humor....so, for those, all, I will not even start to make excuses or to give long winded reasons etc...just pick up where I left off.
So here goes......

This LO 'SISTERS' was made, a fair.....fair few.....several months ago....so much so...I can't even remember what the details are and what is worse, I can't even find my little blue book with all my notes in it! But I do know the paper line WEBSTERS PAGES...of course.....
It could not be any thing else!
So romantic and soft, and need I say yummy!
Always a candy for the eye.

Believe it or not....thats me in the pink...something I designed for the B&H fashion awards years ago....before the laughing lines and grey hair. Before scrapping was around and about!
Yes... that is my little sis of 12 years, Cherry, also wearing one of my creations...now that is a show and tell of fashion long gone but not forgotten. I think 1975? Feels like a life time ago.
Still, our history and well worth taking the time to scrap and file way in the treasure box of memories.
Sisters for ever!
So young and so many possibilities.

The hearts are hand stitched with gold metallic thread....with much love.

Flowers and leaves are hand made, using the help of Tim Holtz dies.

Can't help my self....got to get those flowers in.
The clear gems give them a subtle finish.

Gold embossing done with the Prima Marketing gate mask.
One of my favs and versitile masks ever.

The title is made with the help of another Tim Holtz alpha die.
Stacked of course to give it a chip board effect.
(I stack 6 layers to get this look.)

Well thats it for this post....more to come tomorrow....got a few posts in the waiting room.
I also lost my "get round to it"so I never got getting round to getting it posted....naughty me!
But....I wish you all happy scrappy  inky days to come....see you soon
sussipoppins inky hugs to all.  oxo

Mixed Media - Grunge Houses

Every one loves mixed media......
......in some way or another........my first attempt (a wee while ago) has taken the form of houses in the style of a mini book.
Enjoy the journey.

Can't do anything without adding flowers! The Dusty Attic Fern laser cut added the NZ well known emblem of the Fern.

A good reason for houses and Grandfather Clark....he was later an architect. At the time, he was a Land surveyor.

Grandfather Clark was a bit of an artist. This sketch he drew and sent in a letter to Grandmother Clark while courting her. We still have this treasured letter.
Top right sketch- of himself, hard at work in the South Island, New Zealand

Love the....when pigs fly.... The paper cut of the pig is suspended with wire.
I fell in love with this at first sight!

A try and play with pan pastels...this is really a beginners look! We all have to start sometime.
haha

The photo you see above is what I have of my grandparents wedding day. Grandfather Bob and Grandmother Cottle on my mothers side. Yes those old family names......

The brides maids.....not much cash around at that time....hence the very simple attire. This would be around the time of the depression or there after. Don't you just love those hats! And that neck tie!

Well I hope you enjoyed viewing my first attempt with mixed media and sharing in a bit of my history.
More mixed media to come later.... I have grown since this was created - life does not stand still.....so catch the moment......and enjoy it

....till next time.

have a scrappy one.....

PS We all know I have not been posting for a while, so I am catching up on older work that has been put aside while life carried on. Slowly but surly I shall catch up....

Boys will be Boys

Hold on to your seats!.....I have made time to blog! The LO below is a warm up from not scrapping for a while.....not too bad to start with? Simple but effectieve.

As we all know, I just love gesso, so why not start with something you love?
Design paper and ribbon used for this LO - Websters pages.
Chips are made useing. - Tim Holtz Sizzix dies.

Back ground, paper cuts, clock works and ribbon, all decked with gesso. I did not spray with mists as I wanted to keep it simple. I felt the yellow was bright enough. You could always do this if you wanted to bring more color to the LO.

The photo is of my younger brother and my two boys in Wellington, New Zealand ...years ago...

Letters are cut from the WORDS and INSIDE OUT die's from Tim Holtz. Layerd on the movers and shapers LABELS

You can see how the design paper is colored with gesso so the print and color still shows through in places.

The clock handles are attached with brads. A heavey layer of gesso has also allowed for texture.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit today and hope to see you again soon.

As always I wish you a scrappy day,
scappy hugs Susan

This Woman

Hi there every one. This is being posted while I am killing time at Hong Kong airport... 12 hours can sure be a long time!

So you will have to bear with me as I do not have my note book with all the toys I used to create this.....just using the grey matter... here it goes...

The paper used here, is  from an old Basic Grey paper line...Scarlets letters,.....and yes it is an older line, but still a fav from most scrappers.

The lettering is made from Quickutz dies. Yes I layerd them.....6 times... yes it is a pain to layer them, but as you can see it is well worth doing. Finish it with glossy from Ranger.

Flowers, I , of course made my self from tissue paper, useing the tatterd flower die from Tim Holtz.

The black twig with leaves and grapes, is brought out through Prima Marketing. If you look close enough you will see I have added a few leaf chips from Dusty Attic.....sorry I haven't got the # and name with me. Of course finished with gesso then painted with glimmer mist.

The wings are from one of Tim Holtz embossing folders.

The edges are punched with the help of Martha Stewarts toys....a true classic and a worth while investment......but what isn't......

Sorry got to keep it short, running out of battery. I was clever enough to pack the reserve and the addapter.....but it's in the suit case that was booked strait through......which all well and good is now in Carins with all my other goodies I could not do without!

So as they say catch you later, and as I say have a scrappy one.
Susan. Oxoxo.

PN. This is done on the iPad....so please make allowances for me.

"COLLECTIONS , TWIDDLY BITZ & PRIMA MARKETING"

A couple of tags well worth sharing....

'THE BEST MOMENTS'

ENJOY!

The flower, made with the Sizzix die from Tim Holtz...both sizes, stacked on top of each other, finished with Glimmer mist and Prima flower and pearls.

NOTE- Be careful if you want to do this yourself, as the tissue is very fine. Don't make it too wet with glue and mist or it will not be able to hold it's own.

I just love the crackle paint from Ranger, finished with stickles. Have to have some bling somewhere!.....or life as we know it could be so dull! We can't have that now can we?
The stamp used here is from Prima Marketing, colored with Glimmer mist.
Butterfly wings and dress form are from TWIDDLY BITZ
Tissue paper from, COLLECTIONS

Can't, not have a 3d photo to show you!

More close ups for you.

"The nameless one."

This tag has no name....thus, the name I shall give it now will be ,
"The nameless one."

I love this butterfly. I got such a buzz with making this....like the A Team, love it when a plan comes together...showing my age with this one!
It is worth doing a tut. on it...in the planning........
Sorry the photo does not show the bottom of the dress form well.
Wholes made with the crop-a-dile then, beads attached to jump rings- 7 gypsies-

But what I will share with you at this point, is The butterfly is cut out from one of the 'COLLECTIONS' papers you can purchase. The back ground is stamped with one of the Prima Marketing stamps released last year...one of their many to die for products. Painted of course by hand with Glimmer Mist,

Close ups of the butterfly.....and the dress form, Twiddly Bitz that is covered with the tissue paper.

Mallissa Frances glass glitter- Pink and Green.

Just wanted to show off with a few large close ups.hahahahaha....yes you see the butterfly is finished with those wonderful glass chips.

I hope you enjoyed wondering through my post today/night.....and yes I have good news for you.
So have a scrappy one, love and scrappy hugs, Susan

For those that are interested - The news to date.
I have this morning...the small hours...returned from two glorious relaxed non stress weeks from the France....I slept for the first two days! and, yes I did manage to get a tan ,and no, I did not Internet, so I could not post here,,that was a killer, as I had the time! and yes had time to kill.....laying around , reading, (TWO BOOKS and into the THIRD!) eating cheese and drinking wine...a little any way......Met a great couple while there and booked for next year for three weeks...wait till you see the photo's of the location for next year....you will be eating your hearts out for sure!
(some one commented today that I was not that brown........really!....... with the Irish blood in me! I am so glad I have a slight tint....with a little help from the Sun Bed I shall keep it in tact for Australia......YES IT IS TRUE!!!!!!!
A special note.....Sorry for all those that booked a WS at Scrap-delight with me....but I have not seen family and friends for at least 12 years...I could not pass up this gift my DH offered to me on a silver platter.......and yes I will be returning, I have booked a RETURN TICKET!....So I will make it up to you.....promise!
and yes again...
my other sister in New Zealand, Michelle, talked me into giving up three weeks in Australia to spend it with her and dear girlfriends in the
'LAND OF THE LONG WHITE CLOUD'.
But truly,.... this is a once in a life time thing! A two edged sword....being able to plan my time in as I want, not having to take Frans (DH)into account while away, as..... FRANS WILL NOT be traveling with me.....thats, a real down, down side. The up side is...I can scrap till I drop!
But absence makes the heart grow fonder.....
we will leave it at that....and...... but thankfully,we have skype and e-mail.....and who knows.....he might get a crazy idea to pick me up and travel home with me......won't hold my breath though...he's not a good back seat driver.
He is a retired KLM BVK...ops.... the cats out of the bag now.
I have booked and I'm flying out of Holland Friday 3 pm. 12 hour over stop at Hong Kong, so may be I'll spend a couple of hours looking around. Then I shall be landing on Australian soil 8 am Sunday.

Over there is Father's Day, so Cheere and boys will be picking me up, having coffee may be at Macies or whatever.

I shall hopefully keep you updated.

Bye Bye - time to fly!
