"You're an Everyday Hero"

Have you got an "Everyday Hero" in your life?

I am sure every one has one.
Kiki (mum) and Lune (baby). Both of them are, an everyday hero. They live everyday with Lune's disabilities, but she is so loved....everyday! She is one of my Heroes....they both are....
Another way you can use this collection, it does not have to be only for the male heroes in our lives.

Instructions: The size of this LO is 30 cm x 30 cm. The photo size used is, 12.3 cm x 7 cm Chose the background paper from the Everyday Hero paper collection. Cut the paper and the 2 mm cardboard to 30 cm x 30 cm. Using wet glue, adhere the two together. This gives your Layout a firm base. Stamp the center of the background with HCPC 3665 Everyday Hero Newsprint and the coffee ink. Apply the masking layer on top of the stamped area and to the top and bottom. See the photo. When the masking is dry, apply in circle motion the Inka Gold cream to highlight the raised circles and puddles.

Now, to prepare and make all the embellishments: Using the SUP card stock, make the sentiment circles by stamping and die cutting the circle sentiments. Die cut 5 extra shapes for each circle. To make this into chipboard, apply wet glue to all layers, stack and align, when dry apply a little Inka Gold to the outside edges.

To make the ironwork circles and basket, use the HCD 746 Sweet Lullaby die. Cutting to just over the sold strip on the die, the rest will be discarded. Cut this shape x 18. This will give you 3 layers each circle plus two half circles for the basket and top. The same method as above is used to make the chipboard. To make the 2 full circles, attach 2 of the half circles to form a full circle, by cutting a strip of cardstock so both the straight solid strips can be butted together. Adhere with double sided tape. This will form a base to adhere further layers. Apply Inka Gold to the out side edges. Adhere ribbon using double sided tape across the solid line of the circles. Cut foam tape to size and apply it to the back of the sentiment circles. The basket do as above only you are keeping them in the half circle and no ribbon. Adhere the sentiment circle to the ironwork circle. Make a triple bow from the ribbon and adhere this to the side. Put aside.

To make the lose sentiment strips. Stamp the sentiment from HCPC You Inspire Me stamp set. Cut the sentences into strips. Distress the edges with Walnut Stain ink. Apply strips of double sided foam tape to the back of the strips.

For the flowers and leaves, use the stamps and matching die sets, HCPC 3645 Leafy Branch stamp set HCPC 3646 Fluffy Birdies stamp set and matching die sets HCD1-756, HCD1-157 Leafy Branch. Stamp and die cut the flowers with the HCPC-3644 Birds and Blooms, HCD1-156.You need 45 flower cuts…. happy cutting…Color the flowers and leaves with the inks, then ball and shape using the HCST1-401 Deluxe Flower Shaping Kit. Use the water mister to assist in getting the shape wanted, also the flowers will dry hard and keep their shape.

To prepare the photo; Taking the cardboard, cut x 2 to fit the photo. Adhere the 2 mm cardboard to the photo. Sand the edges of the photo, just enough to give a white edge. Sanding a little more on the corners. Cut cardboard box card ½” smaller than the photo. Adhere to back of photo. This will give the photo the height needed to allow you to tuck the embellishments under it. Now to put it all together: Arrange and adhere all the embellishments and photo the layout base, except the basket of flowers and the last two sentiment sentences. To give the ironwork basket the rounded shape, gently curling it with your fingers. Before adhering the basket, arrange and glue down a few flowers so they fall behind the basket shape. Adhere with wet glue on to the basket edges so the basket will sit on top of the already glued down flowers. When the basket is firmly attached, add more flowers so the basket is full and overflowing with flowers. Tuck a few leaves under the flowers to help with the fall of the arrangement.

Place and adhere the last two sentiment sentences For the finishing touch, add a spot of stickles to the flower centers.

I hope you had a good time learning how I did this LO. I had a lot of fun making it and feel privileged in sharing this with you all.

I have just had a wonderful week in London...family time....thank you to Janice and Andrew for making me feel so special.
I also had such fun, looking all over the place for waxed paper for my die cutting...LOL...so frustrating to find out they don't stock it anymore...lunch boxes and plastic bags have filled the need for the waxed paper....but not mine. The closest was a plastic coated paper, called freezer paper, used for quilting. That was too thick and quite pricy for what I was needing it for, so now I shall have to try getting the wax candles onto the baking paper and see how that works. Now, that should keep me busy and laughing for a while....LOL.

If any one has a better tip, I would love to hear it.

You all have a scrappy time till next week.
sussipoppins inky hugs to you all xox

The Trees

Yip.....posting again....I am even supprising my self!

This LO is a fav of mine. I had been given these photo's from a friend of mine as sometimes, it is not always wise to use too many personal photo's. After juggling and cutting away unwanted bits of scenery, and a whole days worth of fun...this is the out come.

I even used some of that bright, hit you in the face green. Mixed with a few dabs of gesso, you know, that white stuff, I can't live without, stuff that I am so addicted to...I thought, it turned out rather well.

The leaves and branches are made using a die from MEMORY BOX. I made my own masks and stencils, to use in the back ground. The same die was used for this.
I think this gives the back ground more depth and interest. Of course the crackle paint does help.

The ready made mask used to bring on the squares, is from CRAFTERS WORKSHOP.
The masking crackle paste is from VIVA.

With these photo's of trees, the branches draping into the water. The light layer of snow and the hint of   the sun through the leaves...this makes me want to take a cup of coffee, sit and think of a few memories gone by.

Yes it was a lot of concentrating and puzzling to get the squares in the right place after distressing and gesso being added to the photo edges, yes to all. I think the end results made it well worth it.

I used one of the Prima alpha stamps for "THE" part of the title. Chipboards covered with design paper for the "TREES" part of the title. Before gluing down, finish with inking the edges.
Layering the letters gives a bit of fun to the title.

Till next time, try to have a happy scrappy day,
Inky hugs,Sussipoppins

GIRLZ DAY

Another LO of the Scrap-delight design team...thus named "DT Girlz Day"

Sorry, Iam doing this on the i- pad again. Can't get to work it like the laptop. Same excuse of not having my product list with me....can not think of every thing when I get to go to the other side of the world to see my sisters! Sorry.

The background was made with the large...giant weapan of a punch from We R Memory Keepers "Lucky 8 Punch: Classic Wreath".

Circle, from the Dusty Attic large clock, stsitched with gold thread.

Most of the punches used are from EK.

Gold pearl drops made with the Paper Pen from Viva.

Flowers - made from the Tatterd Flowers die from Tim Holtz. Sprayed, moulded with the fingers, gessoed then something new for me - the edges touched up with a pearl pen - pearly brown/pink color.
I used Dusty Attic blooms as well, sprayed and inked to get the color to match. Same with the leaves.

Twigs are made with the Memory Box dies.Very fine, just love this product!

The girl cameo is from Dusty Attic. Painted white the Crackle Paint Clear Candy from Ranger. Add a little vintage ink so the crackles will pop.

The paper ribbon across the page is cut then embossed with the folders from Tim Holtz.

The tittle is, as always, or a lot.....cut x 6 stacked, glued then glossy.....yes making my own chippies is working for me. Touched up with Glimmer Mist using the paint brush and gesso to give it the finsh I wanted.

I hope you have enjoyed this post.

I only appolagise for my not normal posting. You will have to wait to see photo's of my stay here untill I can upload them.

scrappy hugs,
Susan xoxo

She Dreams

A Lay Out for the Scrap-Delight Sunday sketch challenge.

This photo was taken at the last design team meeting a few months ago.
I am so in love with this photo! I am not photogenic, so hate having to pose for photo's....Thank you Janine for taking such great photo's and not to forget, a thank you, to Christine for rubbing all those unwanted lines and extra coloring we were not born with away for me. xoxoxo

The title "SHE dreams" was made with the "Word play" from Tim Holtz. Cut x 2 from packing boxes and x 1 from Glitz Design paper. Do you see the wonderful Dylusions stamped leaves? Stamp them on the back side of card stock, then cut them out. Ball them up with the balling tool and attach with foam tape.
All products are listed below.

Close up of these wonderful dreamy flowers. Finished with a new product at scrapdelight. When I was there last time...as I was racing out the door...I asked what is this? The answer was don't know, take it and try it.....so I have , and I have even suprised my self. It was a jar of medium with a sparkle in it. You can also see it in the dolie masking. I used the dolie to spray glimmer mist. When dry I used the medium...very happy with the bling bling effect! I used what was left over to finish the edges of the flowers.....we all know that I DO NOT throw any thing away...another day when I was kind to the earth. This product is not on the site yet...as I have it here. It is from Viva and is a gel medium. It will be coming very soon. I shall be using it alot in my future work for sure!

Memory box is a must have to die for product! Here you can see how fine the fence is. So fine that the glossy ran off. Dang! Better luck next time. But it looks great if it is not a close up. I put the glossy on the gate as well. The tag was cut with the Tim Holtz tag die.

Yes you saw right. The dreams was an after thought. The LO was done, but I felt it was missing something....yes it was...DUSTY ATTIC.....came to the rescue! "dreams" was finished with gesso then dabbed in a puddle of glimmer mist...you know the ones I make on plastic. Add a few leaves cut from the brown flip side of the Glitz paper and I was done.

Don't we just love "Glitz" Design Paper.

Products I used on this layout:
Glitz Design "Pretty in Pink" paper
Tim Holtz Alterations(sizzix)
Memory Box Dies- rounded fence 98287 / cherry blossom 98316 / wrought iron gate & fence 98225 & 98164
